Indian Navy thwart Piracy attempt in Indian Ocean

An Indian Naval ship on Anti-Piracy patrol off the Gulf of Aden prevented an act of piracy of a Norway Flag Tanker ‘NORDIC SPIRIT’ belonging to the NORDIC American Tanker Company. The Tanker was fired upon by pirates when she sent out a distress signal. The Indian Naval warship immediately launched her helicopter which prevented the pirates from their attempt. The warship has also arrived in the area of the Tanker. This incident took place about an hour ago.
