United Forum of Ex-Servicemen (UFSEM) on 13 December held a India  wide "Sainik Aakrosh Rally"  at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against Government notification on 'One Rank One Pension' (OROP). Ex-Servicemen led by General Satbir Singh cautioned Government to heed to their demands within 3 weeks failing which ex-servicemen will not vote for BJP in upcoming assembly elections in Punjab and Assam and would intensify the agitation.

Thousands of ex-servicemen reached Jantar Mantar as a mark of solidarity and to demonstrate their anger against Government for having failed to deliver OROP as was promised.

General Satbir Singh cautioned the Government to notify, former Army Chief and currently MoS External Affairs Minister in Modi Government, General V.K. Singh as mediator within 15 days failing which will result into further intensification of the protest in subsequent 7 days.

General Satbir Sing claimed that it were ex-servicemen votes which helped BJP assume majority in General elections. He further emphasized that it were again ex-servicemen votes, which routed BJP in Delhi and Bihar.

General Satbir Singh also urged all ex-servicemen not to celebrate 26 January, neither carry out annual ex-servicemen contingent during Republic Day celebration. General Satbir Singh in his address to Ex-Servicemen also vent anger against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.  

United Front of Ex servicemen raises following anomalies in Government Notified OROP.

Notificatiom For OROP will be implemented from 1st July 2014 whereas it should be from 1st April 2014 as it has been approved in budget and all articles of budget are applicable with effect from 1April 2014.

1. Base year of OROP will be calender year of 2013, whereas it should be 31st March 2014. This anomaly will result in a senior soldier getting fewer pensions than a junior soldier seriously violating definition of OROP.

2. Pension will be fixed as average of min and max pension of 2013. This will result in further lowering pension of a senior soldier thus further killing definition of OROP.

3. All anolalies in pension will be equalized after five years whereas it should be equalized every year. This will result in a senior soldier getting fewer pensions than a junior soldier for five years much against the fundamental principle of OROP.

4. A single judge commission will be appointed to look into the anomalies arising during execution of the OROP. Veterans feel that appointment of a commission is faulty. Veterans feel that if a commission is a must then it must have three members from veteran's family and its validity shoukd not be more than one month.

Apart from above main anomalies three other anomalies must also be attended

1. OROP principle is in perpetuity and can not be fiddked with.

2. Seventh CPC is over and above OROP.

3. Soldiers taking pre- mature retirement after 7 Nov 2015 will not be entitled for OROP. It is not good for Armed Forces as this will result in old army and a war can not be fought with army of old soldieds. This clause needs to be removed.
