Prime Minister Addresses The NCC Rally

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi took the Salute at an impressive ceremonial parade held at Garrison Parade Ground Delhi Cantt by the NCC Cadets. It was a grand spectacle of pageantry marked with precision as also a vibrant expression of pulsating energy and excellence embedded in the smart drill. 91 cadets from friendly foreign countries participating under Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) also marched along with their Indian counterparts. It was a true picture of aspirational India, on their journey to become worthy empowered citizens with sound values inculcated by a common powerful binding force – NATIONAL CADET CORPS.

The PM Rally evolved in its present form in 1954 and since then all Prime Ministers have graciously presided over the event. About 2000 cadets participated in the rally this year which is a fine culmination of the month long NCC Republic Day Camp 2016.

The smart march past by the cadets from all NCC Directorates carrying the National flag, the  three services flags and the NCC flag included a mounted column and NCC bands marching in tune.
Five Tableaux participating in the parade comprised Army, Naval & Air Wing, Sports & Adventure,  Environmental, Social & community service activities. They magnificently showcased multifarious activities undertaken by the cadets. 

Prime Minster then gave away trophies to prize winners.   The Prime Minister’s Banner was presented to Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana & Chandigarh Directorate.

In his address to the cadets, the Hon’ble Prime Minister stated that cadets should feel proud of having participated in the Republic Day Camp. “NCC provides youth opportunity for adventure and thrill” he said. The Hon’ble Prime Minister urged the cadets to attain their aim by hard work. He said NCC teaches you, community living which is true reflection of “Unity and Discipline”. He complimented the NCC of having rich traditions.  


The Rally was attended by a number of dignitaries and eminent guests, including Raksha Mantri Manohar Parrikar, Raksha Rajya Mantri Rao Inderjit Singh, Raksha Sachiv G Mohan Kumar,  General Dalbir Singh PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, Chief of Army Staff, Admiral RK Dhowan, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC,  Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC Chief of Air Staff and Head of Departments of NCC foreign delegations and other important civil dignitaries.
