Horse Show at NCC Republic Day Camp 2010 at Delhi Cantonment

1. The prestigious NCC Horse Show concluded today at the NCC Camp, Delhi Cantt. The Horse Show and various equestrian events are held every year to showcase the equestrian training activities undertaken by the NCC and also to adjudge the best rider amongst the boy and girl cadets of the Remount and Veterinary Units (R&V) of NCC. The best rider competition at the All India level was introduced in the year 1967. The basic aim of the competition is to promote a sense of participation, develop equestrian skills and mastery in horsemanship amongst the cadets.

2. It is pertinent to mention that NCC has R&V Units affiliated to various Veterinary Colleges to give equestrian training to boy and girl cadets in addition to basic military training. The NCC has one R&V Regiment at Hyderabad and eleven R&V Squadrons, one each at Mhow, Bhubaneswar, Jabalpur, Guwahati, Ludhiana, Chennai, Bikaner, Trichur, Hissar, Mathura and Delhi.

3. Lt Gen RK Karwal, AVSM, SM**, VSM the DG NCC who was the Chief Guest gave away the trophies and prizes to the winners. The prize winners are as under:-

(a) Best Rider (Boys). Winner – Cadet Sunil Malik (Punjab, Har,Himachal Pradesh &

Chandigarh Directorate)

Runner Up- Under Officer Laxman Choudhary (Rajasthan Dte)

(b) Best Rider Girls. Winner- Senior Under Officer A Geetika (Andhra Pradesh)

Runner Up- Cadet Monu Choudhary (UP Dte)

(c) Best Show Jumper. (Open) Winner- Senior Under Officer Nilay Kumar
