TERRORISTS ATTEMPTED 26/11 TYPE ATTACKS MANY TIMES: ANTONY

Raksha Mantri A.K. Antony claimed on Thursday that terrorists had planned several 26/11 like attacks in the last one year but India foiled all such attempts. Antony while speaking to media at NCC Camp warned that terror groups could attempt more 26/11 type strikes. He also said that the Pakistan had not taken action against the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and India had made the US Defence Secretary aware of Islamabad’s inaction.
Defence Minister Shri AK Antony has called upon the NCC cadets to join the Armed Forces in large numbers. Speaking to NCC cadets, during his visit to NCC Republic Day Camp 2010, in New Delhi today, Shri Antony said that NCC helps in training and moulding our youth to evolve into responsible, disciplined and motivated citizens and leaders. It also inculcates in the youth the basic attributes of unity, discipline, mutual understanding, comradeship and above all a secular outlook. The Minister said the camp provides to the cadets a firsthand experience of the ideals of secularism, national unity and making friends, not only from different states of India but also from other countries.
Shri Antony said, given the modern – day scenario, our youth must be sensitized to social and community development activities. NCC has always led from the front in contributing towards social causes and generating awareness. He said NCC has made efforts in harnessing the energy of the youth in constructive activities through a number of adventure activities and sports. The Minister expressed his happiness on winning of number of medals by NCC cadets in National – Level shooting competitions.
Earlier, the Defence Minister presented Raksha Mantri’s Padak to Sergeant Ashok Kumar Behera, Raksha Mantri’s Commendation Card to Major Bijoy Kumar Biswal and Raksha Mantri’s Commendation to Senior Under Officer Kratika Dwivedi and Sergeant Manas Ranjan Rana.
