China Conditioned India To Break Canal For Removal Of Tents
According to multiple sources, China has removed tents
from Indian controlled Demchok area set up during the India visit of President
Xi Jinping in September 2014. Face off between Indian and Chinese civilians
over setting up of 9 tents in about 70 square kilometer area during the visit
of President embarrassed Modi Government.
As per highly placed sources China agreed to have removed
tents only after India gave into Chinese condition to abandon and destroy
irrigation canal being built in Demchok area by locals to irrigate grassland
for rebos. The head works for canal was almost complete while small water
channels were being built well within Indian borders. Chinese PLA has long been objecting to the Rs 3 crore
irrigation project taken up under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Program
(AIBP) run by Union Water Resource Ministry.
Chinese PLA has actively supported their civilians to set
up tents just before the India visit of their president. As per sources the
matter was also taken up during the flag meetings at border. India and China
has held 18th Special Representative (SR) meetings recently
under Border Dialogue to resolve boundary dispute.
Ironically, China has built heavy infrastructure across
the border in their controlled area while it objects to small water channels to
irrigate grassland necessary for rebos.
