Highlanders Bullet Ride For Peace Unity And Tourism In North East
A diverse group of 24 Royal Enfield Bullet enthusiasts of
Haflong have started a seven day tour-de-hills of Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram
from 06-12 January 2016 with the aim to promote peace and unity between 13
Tribes and six Non-tribes of Dima Hasao District. The Highlanders group was
established in August 2015 with the aim of promoting peace and tourism in Dima
Hasao District. The tour-de-hills titled ‘Brotherhood Ride for Peace and Unity’
is co-sponsored by NCHAC, Tourist Department of the Assam Govt, Langpi Dehangi
Rural Bank and 22 Sector Assam Rifles.
The tour-de-Hills was flagged off by Subrata Thaosem,
Chairman of NCHAC from Haflong Lake Shore. The flag-off was attended by Ihuing
Pame, Executive Member Tourism, Brigadier
SP Vishwasrao, DIG 22 Sector Assam Rifles, Amarendra Barua, DC Dima Hasao, Dr. GV Shiva Prasad, SP Dima Hasao and Vikash Manager of Langpi Dehangi Rural Bank.

The theme song of the Highlanders titled, ‘Tribon ki yaari
dosti’ has become viral in the Social Media. It has been composed and sung by
the Highlanders and was recorded in Hit Record Studio, Haflong. The Highlanders
will be calling on Governors’ of Meghalaya and Mizoram and the Director General
of Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) during their seven
day long ride.
They will also be meeting local gaon buras and school children
during their halts in Umrangso, Shillong, Silchar, and Aizawl. Aizawl Thunders,
the Royal Enfield Bullet club of Aizwal and Highlanders will be teaming-up for
a social cause in Aizwal city.
