Delhi police on 22nd January issued an alert after the
driver of a taxi (number HP 01D 2440) allegedly car jacked by three unidentified men from Pathankot
was found murdered. The incident sparked security concerns in the midst of a
nationwide crackdown on suspected Islamic State terrorists by NIA and Security
Agencies.
Delhi Police released photographs of suspects and details of
the vehicle through its official Twitter handle saying the Maruti Alto was
hired by three unidentified men on January 20 at Kalta Bridge in Kangda district
of Himachal Pradesh.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Vijay Kumar, was
later found dead at the Kalta bridge in Kangra. Police in Himachal Pradesh,
where the vehicle was registered, reportedly said that the Alto car was not
registered with any travel agency.
On the intervening night of 20th January and 21st January,
another blue beacon Tata Safari car of an IG posted with ITBP was stolen from
his Noida home in Sector 23. The Government vehicle with number CH 01 GA 2915
was purchased just 10 days before and was sent to service repair in Okhla
Phase-I, according to Noida police. Police is yet to trace the vehicle.
The terror threat, in the wake of Pathankot attack, can not
be ignored given the full dress rehearsal of Republic Day on 23rd January. The French Army contingent is also participating in the Republic Day parade. The President
of France, Francois Hollande is the Chief Guest on Republic Day. There is
possibility of some terrorists escaping from Pathankot. Since, the alto car was also hired from Pathankot, the likelihood of terrorists sneaking into Delhi or nearby area can not be ruled out. It is also not yet certain if this incident is anyhow linked with the stolen car of ITBP IG. It is important to note that the attack on Indian Consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif was also foiled by the ITBP in Afghanistan. Pathankot and Mazar-i-Sharif attacked were allegedly linked. Intelligence agencies reportedly informed of infiltration of
about 15 terrorists initially before Pathankot attack. Indian Agencies have shot down 6 terrorists in the
operation. Jaish-e-Mohammad is
accused of perpetuating the terror attack on Indian Air Force base in
Pathankot.
