Indian Coast Guard Apprehends Pakistani Fishing Boat 'Al Shenaz'

Indian Coast Guard Ship C-411, a frontline ship in the ICG
North West Region, whilst on patrol near
notional Indo-Pak IMBL off Jakhau has
apprehended a Pakistani fishing boat ‘Al Shenaz’ for illegally fishing inIndian
waters. The boat was approx 30 Nautical Miles west of Jakhau and had about 300
kgs fresh fish catch.
Upon being spotted by
the ICG ship at about 2000 hrs on 05 Feb 16, the crew members onboard Pakistani
Fishing Boat ‘Al Shenaz’ removed its nets and tried to flee towards Pak waters.
The ICG ship, after a hot pursuit was successful to stop the fishing boat. The
ICG boarding party boarded the boat and carried out thorough investigation.
Thereafter, the ICG boarding party apprehended all 11 crew including master
(Ali Asgar), all of Pakistan nationality, for violation of Maritime Zones of
India Act 1981. The apprehended boat has been escorted to Jakhauand brought
alongside at 0930 hrs today (06 Feb 16) for handing over to the local police
authority.
Further, the joint
investigations and interrogation by Central and State agencies is being carried
out at Jakhau.
