SCHOOL CHILDREN REHEARSHING AT RAJPATH ON 14.01.2010 ON THE EVE OF R D PARADE








The theme of National Integration is promoted through Peace, Games and Health by 180 students of SKV, Samalka, New Delhi. The three schools from North-East district of Delhi comprising S.K.V.C1 Yamuna Vihar, S.K.V.C2 Yamuna Vihar, and G.G.S.S.S, Vijay Park Maujpur, will present a Rajasthani folk Dance highlighting a Rajasthani girl dancing on the beat of change better known as 'Dhapali’ with her Rajasthani lover on the occasion of Holi. The Students of Kamal Model Senior Secondary School, Mohan Garden, New Delhi and Vandana International Senior Secondary School, Dwarka will present “Viramheen Pravah”, based on the idea of Amar Jawan Jyoti which is a symbol of the sacrifices of our Jawans who laid down their life for the glory of the nation.

The South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, Karnataka presents Dolukunitha Art form of the state. This dance is a major form of Art and occupies the pride of place among folk dances. It provides both spectacular variety and complexity of scales.

North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur presents Tamang Selo which is a folk dance form for the Tamang Nepali community of Sikkim. This dance depicts the love and emotion between young boys and girls. Tamang Selo or ‘Damphu’ dance has since time immemorial been a traditional dance performed by young and old folk alike in their traditional costumes.
